Title: Establishing A Memorial
Introduction: No small amount of money is made by companies selling
flowers, cards and assorted gifts in acknowledgment of some occasion,
whether a wedding anniversary, birthday or, some other special event in
the life of a friend, family member or loved one. A great variety of
memorials dot our landscape, communities with memorials of every sort
commemorating some special event. The Cross of Jesus Christ is an event
in the history of man that commemorates God in the flesh, becoming sin,
so that sinful man could be reconciled to Holy God, have his sins put to
death, and be born again. The cross has been made into an object of
jewelry, and much of the significance of the Cross has been lost in that
way. The crucifixion and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ was the
most significant event in the history of mankind. The crossing of Jordan
was a significant event in the life of Israel, and, a memorial was
established in light thereof. What memorials have you established in a
scrapbook, a diary, or even your memory to moves of God in your life. We
do well to remember the blessings of the past.

There is so much to be learned from God’s dealing with his people
in the past that would benefit those of us, his people in this day.
Every child of God should acquaint themselves with the means and the
methods of God’s provision and protection of his people in the Old
Testament. For it is in recognition of those truths that will encourage
